Welcome and we invite you to join us because the next disaster is not a matter of if—it is a matter of when.
Born from the ashes of California’s wildfires and the courage of ordinary people who rose to protect their communities, A Disaster Diary is a call to awaken. Every disaster leaves behind stories, lessons, and a roadmap for how we can do better next time. When we learn from the past, we save lives in the future.
This is a space for courage, compassion, and readiness. A place where neighbors become heroes, where faith meets action, and where healing becomes fuel for preparedness.
Whether you are a parent, a neighbor, a leader, or simply someone who wants to be ready—welcome. Here, you’ll find tools to fortify your home, calm your nervous system, build community strength, and prepare your family with confidence.
May these stories inspire you.
May these lessons guide you.
And may you leave this site more prepared, more empowered, and more connected.
Learn from yesterday.
Pray today.
Prepare for tomorrow.
We encourage you to share your thoughts and personal stories, as we value your experiences and we are here for each other.
When you join us, you become part of a community that will grow stronger together, no matter what disaster comes next.

How Can We Raise Our Disaster Intelligence?
Learn. Pray. Prepare.
If/when disaster strikes again, are you prepared?
LEARN. Knowledge is power—but more than that, it’s peace of mind. Learn how wildfires move. Learn the zones and escape routes near you. Learn what tools you’ll need to shut off the gas and how to shut off gas. Learn your neighbors' names. Learn what phone apps are helpful and what the apps can’t tell you if you don’t have electricity or a signal. Learn to use your senses – if you see grey plumes of smoke above you – you are in the route of the fire, if you smell fire, it’s near, if you hear the sirens get ready.
PRAY. Not just in the crisis. Pray before. Pray after. Pray with your hands in the dirt, with your feet on the floor, with your heart cracked open. Whether you pray to God, to the Universe, to your ancestors, or simply to your breath—make it a habit.
PREPARE. Preparation is love turned practical. Pack your go bag. Harden your home. Get your documents in order. Talk to your kids about the plan. Rehearse it. Print a checklist and stick it by the door. Join a CERT team. Support your local brigade. Keep extra batteries and backup meds. Keep your gas tank full.
