According to CALFIRE maps released in April 2025, all of Malibu is in a very high fire hazard zone.

This is something that we all know and knew, now it’s official in 2025.

What can you do?

Don’t worry. Don’t panic. Just start doing the work.

There are two words you need to remember - home hardening.

What is home hardening?

What is located within 5 feet of your home? Do you have defensible space?

Have you removed anything within 5 feet of your home that is a fire hazard?

Are there trees/limbs hanging over or touching your home? That is a potential source of fire.

What do your vents look like? Are your vents open or covered with mesh that can keep out embers?

The time to protect your home is now.

What’s on your roof? Do you have decks? What are the decks made of? Can you use fire-proof paint?
